It is enough that when it happens we will not be able to control what happens, that we will be in the throes of chance and circumstances and that all the randomness that our humanity tells us to deny will stand nakedly before us and taunt us as we cry out to apparitions that we have crested to save us. There will be no saving, and the fires that burn brightly into the night will burn with the fat of our flesh and the colors, ever fading, of our minds.
